Gresham is a community that has helped me grow, build a career, continue my education, and find opportunities to serve. I have called Gresham home for nearly 20 years, and I am running for City Council because I want to give back and help create those same opportunities for the next generation.
I want Gresham to be a community where people want to live, work, raise a family, and build a future. That means strong neighborhoods, local jobs, safe streets, parks and recreation, thoughtful growth, and opportunities for young people to discover their own path.
My professional career has given me nearly three decades of experience working with infrastructure, construction, engineering, project management, permitting, and local governments. My service on the Gresham Planning Commission and Gresham Redevelopment Advisory Committee has given me another perspective: how the decisions we make today can shape our community for decades.
I am a systems thinker. Housing, transportation, jobs, parks, infrastructure, education, public safety, and the environment do not exist independently of one another. A decision in one area often affects several others. I believe good local government recognizes those connections, plans for the long term, and works collaboratively with residents, businesses, community organizations, and other public agencies.
I also believe opportunity takes many forms. For one young person it may begin in a classroom. For another it may be on a soccer field, through music or art, outdoors, or with the first employer willing to give them a chance. A thriving community creates many different paths for people to discover what they can do and build a life for themselves.
I want Gresham to be a place where those opportunities are close to home, where families can see a future for themselves, and where the children growing up here today will someday be proud to say they chose Gresham as the place to build their own future.
Gresham should be a place where people can build careers close to home. I want to strengthen local businesses, attract family-wage employers, and connect education and workforce development with the jobs of tomorrow. Economic development should create opportunity for the people who already call Gresham home.
Growth should strengthen our community. We can provide housing choices while investing in safe neighborhoods, transportation, parks, recreation, infrastructure, and natural spaces. Thoughtful planning can accommodate growth while protecting the qualities that make Gresham a desirable place to live.
I want Gresham to be a top city for families. Young people should have opportunities to learn, participate in sports and the arts, experience the outdoors, and prepare for meaningful careers. Our goal should be a community where today's children can imagine building their own futures here.
Bend My Ear
What would make Gresham better?
I have my own ideas for Gresham's future, but some of the best ideas come from the people who live, work, raise families, own businesses, and spend time in our community every day.
So bend my ear. Tell me what's working, what isn't, or what you would like to see Gresham become. Big idea or small improvement, I want to hear it.
